What documents are needed to obtain the NIE number?
- Complete the N.I.E. application form (Modelo EX-15), current passport and its photocopy, two passport-sized photos, pay the corresponding fee and present proof of payment.
Why do you need an N.I.E.?
- It is the unique personal and tax number that a foreigner can request to comply with the necessary procedures before the public administration.
What else is the N.I.E. for?
- To open a bank account, obtain residency, be able to pay taxes in Spain, buy or sell properties, vehicles, establish and register a company, contract public services (water, electricity, gas, telephone and internet), among others.
How long does the processing of an N.I.E. take?
- The time depends on obtaining an appointment to process it, and it is issued at the same time as the documentation is presented.
